• Before: The original driveway was showing severe signs of wear and tear, it was discoloured and uneven.

Project Steps

1. Initial Condition
   • The old concrete driveway was cracked, discoloured and had sunk, making access to the property difficult as well as negatively affecting the kerb appeal.
2. Ground Preparation
   • The first step was to lift and remove the existing slabs, and then excavate the area to the required depth to prepare a solid foundation.
3. Sub-Base Installation
   • A compacted Type 1 MOT hardcore base was installed, followed by a layer of sharp sand for leveling.
4. Laying the Block Paving
   • Charcoal block paving was laid in a herringbone pattern for a timeless finish, while also providing enhanced strength. A striking border was added using contrasting light grey and buff blocks with a chevron inset for added character.
5. Drainage
   • Aco channels were installed to ensure effective surface water drainage.
6. Final Touches
   • The blocks were compacted and sanded to lock them in place and prevent movement, then the edges were neatly cut to ensure a perfect fit against existing features.
