Project Steps

1. Removal of Existing Driveway
   • The project began by removing the existing tarmac surface, which was tired and worn. This involved cutting and breaking up the old material and safely disposing of the waste. This step cleared the area and revealed the sub-base, ready for preparation.
2. Ground Preparation
   • Once the area was cleared, it was excavated to the required depth and a new MOT Type 1 hardcore base was installed. The base was compacted thoroughly using a plate compactor to ensure a firm and stable foundation. It was made sure that the levels set to allow for correct water runoff and integrated drainage.
3. Edging with Decorative Block Paving
   • A stylish block paved border was installed to neatly frame the driveway. The edge featured a combination of charcoal and red bricks arranged in a striking herringbone pattern and soldier course pattern. These not only added a decorative element but also helped to retain the resin surface.
4. Resin Installation
   • A blend of natural aggregates was mixed with UV stable resin, and then hand-trowelled onto the prepared surface to create a smooth, seamless finish. This permeable layer is not only attractive but also SUDS compliant, allowing water to drain through easily.
5. Finishing Touches
   • To complete the transformation, we built a matching resin and block paved doorstep area, creating a cohesive look between the driveway and front entrance. Final cleanup included brushing off excess material and sealing all edges for a neat, polished appearance.
