Our newest clients from Bury contacted us because they liked the look of their neighbours new driveway. They could see that it was finished to the highest of standards and like what we did with the space they had. So they asked us if we could remove their old grey paving slabs and install a new sandstone patio to the back of their garden. We were more than happy to oblige.
As you can see from the images below, the new patio needed to be built up on one side as the garden was on a slope and was uneven.
We decided to use wooden sleepers for this as they look tidy and are easy to install. These were built up around the area once all the old paving slabs were removed. The next step was to prepare the base.
When we prepare the base, we try to recycle as many materials as we can, so we used the old paving slabs as hardcord and laid these all around the area. This was then covered with type 1 sand and levelled off.
Once the base was prepared, we could then lay the new paving slabs. Our clients chose to have sandstone paving slabs which came in different sizes and colours. When laid, this type of paving looks very effective.
They loved their new patio area and couldnt wait to show it off to their family and friends.
We always recommend having a new patio sealed once it has been laid. This will help to protect the paving slabs for many years.
